Detritus

Your words tangled
in my soul like
a plastic bag 
snagged
in a bush.

Years later
I still am marked by
the tattered remnants
of failed love.

  1. Driving to work in Snowmass Canyon in late winter one year, I looked up to see what I thought was a plastic grocery bag floating high above the river . . . it was a bald eagle. Made me happy.
